May 23, 2008

Dr. Jovito R. Salonga Center for Law and Development Director Atty. Mikhail Lee L. Maxino was invited by the Municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental in its two activities last summer to talk about the topic “Accountability and Basic Legislation”.

The first activity was the Integrated Sangguniang Kabataan Organizational Leadership - Basic Orientation Seminar (ISKOLAR – BOS) last May 9, 2008 at Dauin Central School with the aim of developing the SK Officials into self-reliant, dynamic and creative community leaders.

Subsequently, the Barangay Newly Elected Officals Orientation/Seminar (BNEO) was conducted at Dauin Cental School on May 19, 2008.

The Municipality of Dauin in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government will conduct the Barangay Newly Elected Officals Orientation/Seminar (BNEO) at Dauin Cental School, Municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental on May 19, 2008.

“The purpose of the training is to develop the competencies of newly elected Barangay Officials for governance and development and to enhance their level of awareness and knowledge on their roles, duties and responsibilities as development managers,” Mayor Rodrigo Alanano said.

The said activities were organized by the Municipal Government of Dauin in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Meanwhile, Atty. Maxino was also one of the speakers during the National Convention of the Local Lady Legislator’s League of the Philippines (4), Mindanao Area Conference, last May 17, 2008 at Dakak Park and Beach Resort, Taguilon, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

In addition, Maxino discussed on the topic, “Human Rights – Teacher’s and Students’ Rights” at the St. Louis School – Don Bosco last May 20, 2008. (By Christy Ann Marie R. Cong)
